Ceremonies

This last weekend I took photos for my buddy's funeral in a small town about 25 miles from here. The weekend before I took photos for a different buddy's wedding in that same small town.

I liked the wedding better -- I didn't cry as much.

Both ceremonies were about bringing people together. Both celebrated life. Both reflected the natural cycle of things. I haven't had a whole lot of time yet to reflect, but the two events really seemed to have a lot in common...

I was very sorry to hear about your friend. I sincerely hope there was no suffering in the end.

I have always thought of funerals as not being about who is gone, but about who is left. Unlike weddings where it's about the couple.

When my father died it allowed me to rebuild relationships with family that I hadn't seen in about 10 years. It truly was about bringing people together.

I agree that they both have a lot in common. Mainly because with my circle of friends, it is the only time you will see them try and dress up!

You took the time to share both events and your feelings about them...

...Priceless.

Love to you and Dagmar.

Both events are celebrations of life. Both are new beginnings. I'm sure your friend would want all of you to smile and remember the good times you shared.
